{What I Read} May – July 2017

Instead of doing a monthly recap, I started these quarterly ones. Here’s what I’ve read the past few months!

What I Read

The one that I loved the most: Without Merit

The one that came in a close second: The Queen and the Cure

The one I couldn’t put down: Don’t Let Go

The one that was a bit disappointing: The Good Widow

The one that I highlighted almost every page on my Kindle: Atheists Who Kneel and Pray

The one that was awesomely inspiring: Big Girls Do It Stronger

The one that I’m still thinking about: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

The past few months have been the best reading months of the year for me! I read several of my most anticipated books of the year – and every one of them lived up to my expectations.

WHAT’s ahead

Some books I’m looking forward to reading soon…

W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

I didn’t love The Secrets She Keeps. Very predictable. I did love Cover of Night (despite hating that stupid cover). The books in this series are such fun, quick reads.

And I am berating myself for not picking up A Million Junes sooner. This is a book I pre-ordered, after several reader friends highly recommended it. And of course, I put off reading it, and why?! It was so good!! I didn’t want to put it down.

 what i’m currently reading

After reading The Nightingale, which is one of my favorite books ever, I have been anxious for Kristin Hannah’s next release. I was so thrilled that the publisher reached out to me and offered me an early copy. I haven’t started it yet (I finished A Million Junes at 10:00 last night), but I will be starting it today!

what i have recently added to my tbr

This book has been receiving a lot of great reviews, so I bought a Kindle copy of it earlier this week. I’ve been feeling drawn to historical fiction lately…we’ll see how long that lasts, because I’m a mood reader. 😉

I loved this memoir. It was classic Jen, the Jen I loved in her first several memoirs. I laughed so much reading this book – loved it!

 what i’m currently reading

I had started this one a few weeks ago, but put it aside to read a few other books (CoHo, Fisher, and Coben books will make me drop anything I’m currently reading). First time I’ve read anything by this author, and although I am enjoying his writing style, the entire book has been very predictable.

This book released yesterday – I have a copy coming from the Book Depository (hopefully sometime this week). Can’t wait to read it – I keep hearing it’s really good!

Can you even believe I finished three books in one week?! It was an awesome reading week for me. I loved all three of these books. Colleen Hoover outdid herself again with another unique and wonderful story. Harlan Coben kept me guessing until the very end – I couldn’t put the book down! And I just love Jasinda Wilder. She’s so real and inspirational. I devoured her book in a day.

I’ve loved most of Jen Lancaster’s memoirs, except the last few were just meh. She self-published this book, and it seems like the reasoning is because she was told by her publisher that her way of writing isn’t good enough anymore. This is her way of sticking it to them, and I hope it’s a huge success. I didn’t get very far reading last night, but several times I was laughing out loud. It’s going to be a fun quick read.

I love this series and can’t wait for this book to release. I saw it on Netgalley this morning and requested it – hopefully they approve me!

I loved it. It was a softer side of Tarryn Fisher, but it was so good.

This book! Last night I got to about 70%, and it was breaking me. I felt that heaviness in my chest, trying-not-to-sob feeling. IT’S SO GOOD. I just love how CoHo can write such unique stories EVERY TIME. This is absolutely nothing like her previous books, and it has had some pretty shocking moments – I’m loving it!! I hope to finish it today. And then I’m gonna be sad it’s over.

*Does the happy dance* I am so excited that I got a copy of this book. Harlan Coben is my absolute favorite suspense author, and I’ve been really excited to read this one. It’s definitely up next!
