{Bout of Books 17} Wrap Up

Bout of Books

Considering what a busy week it was, I think I did pretty well! I had no expectations, and went into the week knowing I would only read if I had the time. I’m surprised I was able to finish two books and start a new one. I think it had everything to do with my book selection. I read Dark Matter in a few days because it was SO GOOD. Such a different book than what I would normally read, and I loved it. I started The One That Got Away, and it’s also really good. I didn’t want to put it down last night. This author is quickly becoming a favorite.

No challenges for me this time, but I did participate in one of the Twitter chats. Overall not a bad week!

I hope everyone had fun with BoB!

{Bout of Books 17} Day One

Bout of Books

I have time to do a quick update. Not participating in the challenges, but I did have fun participating in the Twitter chat last night! Those are always fun. And I got more reading done than I hoped, although I stayed up too late, and I’m paying for it right now. Gimme all the coffee.

I love participating in the Bout of Books readathon. This time it’s going to be a busy week since Sunnie starts Kindergarten. But I still really hope to participate as much as I can. I probably won’t have time to do many posts on my blog – I plan to post more on Twitter and Instagram. Follow me there if you’re not already!

If you’ve never participated, I encourage you to sign up! It’s so much fun, and I love that it lasts a whole week!

#todayinsixwords: CoHo is going to break me

Well, that’s a wrap for another Bout of Books readathon, and I had fun. I loved the challenges this week, managed to finish one book, and I’m halfway through my current book. The only goal I didn’t meet was participating in one of the Twitter chats. Just didn’t have time this round. Overall, I’m happy with how much I read – this week always motivates me to read a lot more than I normally do in a week!

It Ends With Us is so good!! I can easily see why some have already stated this is her best book to date – it’s definitely emotional, and I can see it being my new favorite. I’m forcing myself to put it down and go to bed, or I will stay up all night to finish it, and regret it tomorrow when I can’t function at work.

#todayinsixwords: reading it slowly – it’s so good

I was elated to receive an ARC of Colleen Hoover’s new release on Friday night. So of course I stopped reading my current book to start it, because I just couldn’t wait. But it is the weekend, and adulting tends to get in the way, so I haven’t read as much as I hoped. I also admit that I’m reading the book slower on purpose, soaking in every word, because I know I’m going to be really sad when I finish it. And just so you know, it.is.amazing. But I expected nothing less.

Today should be a bit of a slower day, so I am hoping I’ll get to read more, and maybe even finish it. Hope everyone has been enjoying Bout of Books week!

Freaky Friday Photo Challenge

Share a photo of you or your books in a creepy setting to celebrate Friday the 13th! Use the hashtags #boutofbooks and #freakyboutofbooks so we can all see the scary!

I shared my R.L. Stine collection on Twitter. What is creepier than some old school Stine books?! These books used to scare the shit out of me as a kid, and I loved it.

#todayinsixwords: slow start – fantasy isn’t my jam

Started a new book last night, and went with one that wasn’t even on my original BoB list (shocker). The Bird and the Sword was surprise released this week, and after seeing so much love for it from fellow bloggers and Tarryn Fisher, I decided to try it. When the mood strikes, ya know? I’m one of the few who hasn’t read an Amy Harmon book and feel like I’m missing out. Well, I don’t read much fantasy these days, so these types of books are always a little slower for me to get into with all the funky names to get used to, and the weird world building to get a grasp on. It’s interesting so far, and right before I stopped reading last night it started getting pretty good. Unfortunately I was just too tired to keep going!

CHALLENGE

If You Like This, Try This.
Since we all love recommending books, here’s your chance to share the love.

If you enjoyed The Sky is Everywhere or Eleanor & Park

This is one of my favorite books this year, and favorite YA books ever. Can’t recommend it enough!

#todayinsixwords: happy that I finished one book!

Finished my first BoB book last night! And it was delightfully creepy and awesome. Definitely recommend it! Now I’m having a hard time deciding what to start next. One book that I’m considering wasn’t even on my original list. Gah, decisions!

CHALLENGE

Pick the topic of your choice and share your 5 favorite books that fit. Topics could be a favorite genre, a favorite trope, book boyfriends, or ANYTHING.

I chose posting a picture on Instagram of 5 favorite books of all time.

#todayinsixwords: just didn’t have energy to read

Still not feeling the greatest and wasn’t able to read too many pages last night before I fell asleep. The good news is that I love this book, and I can just tell something big is about to happen. I’m excited to pick it back up, and hopefully finish it today. And hopefully today will be a better reading day for me!

#todayinsixwords: this book is creepy as hell

I’m fighting a wicked sinus infection, but thankfully I’m on antibiotics that are starting to kick in this morning. The only plus side to being sick was that I managed to read quite a bit of my book yesterday in between naps – it was the only thing to keep my mind off of feeling like crap. And this book is really good – creepy and suspenseful and hard to put down.

THE Books

I’ll be posting daily updates and participating in any challenges I can.  Hope everyone participating has a great week! If you want to still sign up, you can do so here.

So, we know I’m a moody reader, and picking a TBR pile is usually a wasted effort. But, it’s still fun to do anyway. Here are the books I’d like to read.
