W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

I’m ready for spring break! I have some fun things planned with Sunnie next week and will hopefully get lots of reading time, too.

what i recently finished reading

Both were 4 star reads, which means I enjoyed them. Not my favorite Nora Roberts book, but still good. My second Mariana Zapata book, because apparently I like to torture myself with all the wordiness and the painfully slow burn romance.

 what i’m currently reading

I’m on a romance kick right now. Just started it last night and it’s a quick, enjoyable read so far.

WHat i have recently added to my tbr

I enjoyed Ware’s last two books. Looking forward to trying this one.

{Review} Daisy in Chains

about the book

Famous killers have fan clubs.

Hamish Wolfe is no different. Locked up for the rest of his life for the abduction and murder of three young women, he gets countless adoring letters every day. He’s handsome, charismatic and very persuasive. His admirers are convinced he’s innocent, and that he’s the man of their dreams.

Who would join such a club?

Maggie Rose is different. Reclusive and enigmatic; a successful lawyer and bestselling true-crime writer, she only takes on cases that she can win.

Hamish wants her as his lawyer, he wants her to change his fate. She thinks she’s immune to the charms of a man like this. But maybe not this time . . .

Would you?

My Thoughts

Thank you Steph, for putting this book on my radar! I love when I find a new author to obsess over. This book was fantastic! Brilliant writing that kept me guessing and flying through the pages. And the ending completely surprised me – I love when that happens! I will definitely be reading more by this author in the future.

Bottom Line

A fast-paced suspense that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Five Things Friday ~ 3-31-17

How is it almost April already?!

1. this week in reading

Nora Roberts books are like comfort food. This wasn’t my favorite of hers, but I still enjoyed it.

2. New Books I’m excited about

3. fun thing(s) from the week

It hasn’t been a very eventful week. Normal routine and that’s a good thing! I worked from home on Wednesday and was able to finish the book I was reading – that was definitely the highlight of my week. 😉

4. life happens

I got a little too excited about the nice weather we were having last week and may have overdone it on the running. I was doing so good sticking to 5 days a week and keeping my mileage consistent. Then I tried to squeeze in as many runs at the park as I could while the weather was so perfect, and it was one run too many – my hamstring is very unhappy. I’ve had to cool it this week and take extra rest days, which I hate doing, but I can’t risk popping it again and being restricted for months like I did in the fall. When it used to be really hard for me to find motivation to do any kind of exercise, now it’s really hard for me to take a day off from it! I guess that’s a good thing.

5. looking ahead

This weekend my best friend’s having a birthday party for her daughter, so we’ll be going over there on Saturday. Besides those plans the rest of the weekend is up in the air. Hubby will be fishing and has a tournament on Sunday. So, Sunnie and I will just be hanging out!

cheers!

{Review} On Second Thought

about the book

Ainsley O’Leary is so ready to get married—she’s even found the engagement ring her boyfriend has stashed away. What she doesn’t anticipate is being blindsided by a breakup he chronicles in a blog…which (of course) goes viral. Devastated and humiliated, Ainsley turns to her older half sister, Kate, who’s struggling with a sudden loss of her own.

Kate’s always been the poised, self-assured sister, but becoming a newlywed—and a widow—in the space of four months overwhelms her. Though the sisters were never close, she starts to confide in Ainsley, especially when she learns her late husband was keeping a secret from her.

Despite the murky blended-family dynamic that’s always separated them, Ainsley’s and Kate’s heartaches bind their summer together when they come to terms with the inevitable imperfection of relationships and family—and the possibility of one day finding love again.

My Thoughts

You know how sometimes a book comes along at just the right time, and it’s so perfect in every way that you never want it to end? That’s how I felt while I was reading this book. I was so wrapped up in the lives of these two sisters and their story. This book had everything I love – humor, romance, family drama, and friendship. I loved the character development and how much I could relate to both sisters. The romance was just subtle enough without taking away from the heart of the story. And the growing relationship between the sisters after they both suffer through the most horrible times of their lives was so inspiring and heartwarming.

Bottom Line

I loved every single word. Favorite book of 2017.

Not a lot happening this week. Besides the weather finally getting a little warmer (yay). I bought a bunch of books last week and wouldn’t you know it – I haven’t been in the mood for any of them. Go figure.

what i recently finished reading

So, I started out hating this book, then I ended up loving it. Because slow burn romances are the best. There’s no doubt the book could’ve been a lot shorter by cutting out the unnecessary wordiness – but I was able to forgive that once the story took off. I’m even looking to read another book by this author after I finish up my current read.

 what i’m currently reading

Sometimes I just love a good Nora Roberts book. A little suspense, a little romance, a little humor. Her books just make me happy, and this one is really enjoyable.

WHat i have recently added to my tbr

It was getting a lot of attention and sounded good to me, so I got a copy. Someone take away my credit card, please.
