Bout of Books 20!

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 21st and runs through Sunday, August 27th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 20 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

My favorite readathon! It’s a no pressure, week-long event, and I plan to post updates on my blog as well as on Twitter and Instagram.

This is the first week of school, and we’ll have quite a lot going on over the weekend. I’m still going to try my hardest to participate when I can.

W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

what i recently finished reading

Can you even believe I finished three books in one week?! It was an awesome reading week for me. I loved all three of these books. Colleen Hoover outdid herself again with another unique and wonderful story. Harlan Coben kept me guessing until the very end – I couldn’t put the book down! And I just love Jasinda Wilder. She’s so real and inspirational. I devoured her book in a day.

I’ve loved most of Jen Lancaster’s memoirs, except the last few were just meh. She self-published this book, and it seems like the reasoning is because she was told by her publisher that her way of writing isn’t good enough anymore. This is her way of sticking it to them, and I hope it’s a huge success. I didn’t get very far reading last night, but several times I was laughing out loud. It’s going to be a fun quick read.

I love this series and can’t wait for this book to release. I saw it on Netgalley this morning and requested it – hopefully they approve me!

I loved it. It was a softer side of Tarryn Fisher, but it was so good.

This book! Last night I got to about 70%, and it was breaking me. I felt that heaviness in my chest, trying-not-to-sob feeling. IT’S SO GOOD. I just love how CoHo can write such unique stories EVERY TIME. This is absolutely nothing like her previous books, and it has had some pretty shocking moments – I’m loving it!! I hope to finish it today. And then I’m gonna be sad it’s over.

*Does the happy dance* I am so excited that I got a copy of this book. Harlan Coben is my absolute favorite suspense author, and I’ve been really excited to read this one. It’s definitely up next!

Hi, friends! Slowly getting back into the blogging groove after taking a few weeks off. I haven’t been doing much reading, because nothing has really held my attention until this week.

what i recently finished reading

It has been weeks since I finished reading a book, and this was it. I loved it!

 what i’m currently reading

It is so good – I’m loving every word.

You can imagine how excited I was to receive an ARC of this book – my most anticipated book of the year. It’s rare that I KNOW what book I’ll be reading next, but I will absolutely be starting this one when I’m done with AWKAP.

Yara Phillips is a wandering muse.

She dates men who need her, but always moves on to something new, never staying in one place for very long.

David Lisey is in need of a muse.

A talented musician lacking lyrical inspiration. When he first sees her, he knows he’s found what he’s been looking for.

Yara believes she can give David exactly what he needs to reach his full potential:

A broken heart.

David’s religion is love.

Yara’s religion is heartache.

Neither is willing to surrender, but religion always requires sacrifice.

Dear Yara,

The bands in London, November 12th. Want to catch up?

David

So casual. So nonchalant. You’d think we were only acquaintances, that we’d once sipped a couple of beers together instead of tattooing love on our skin and reciting marriage vows. I read the e-mail again and analyze the shit out of it. How can I not? I count out the words: thirteen. The punctuation: four. His name, my name. A flippant, casual turn of phrase: catch up. In the end, there’s only so much psychoanalyzing you can do to a thirteen-word e-mail. I move on with my life, feeling rather pathetic. But not before I e-mail him back. And okay, sure, I don’t move on with my life. What does that even entail? Forgetting? Forgiving? Being happy? Besides, I know what he wants to talk about. I know why he’s coming.

Hi David,

Yeah, sounds good. Let me know when and where.

Yara

My e-mail is a word shorter.

I’m that petty.
