{Monthly Recap} – May

What a month!

I read 7 books in May, and every one of them was fantastic. How often does that happen?! Not very, so I’m really happy to have had so many great reads this month. I even found 3 new authors to love! I ran in 3 races in May, one being my first 10K. And I beat my PR this past weekend in my second 5K of the month. My daughter ‘graduated’ preschool and is officially a kindergartner. I celebrated the 2 year mark of my life changing weight loss journey. And the sun finally decided to come out and, dare I say, stay out?! May was incredible!

Things I’m looking forward to in June

My daughter has her first dance recital this weekend! Tonight is her dress rehearsal, and she’s so excited. After the recital we take a break from dance until September, with the exception of a 3-day camp in July.

We start summer hours at work this Friday, and I love that we have this awesome perk. If the weather cooperates, Sunnie and I will be spending the afternoon in my mother-in-law’s pool.

I plan to sign up for at least one 5K this month, and maybe another 10K. I haven’t looked out at the schedule to decide which ones yet. Now that the busyness of May is dying down, I will start to look ahead for the rest of the summer.

And there are SO MANY good books coming out in June! All of these are on my TBR, to hopefully read this summer. With the exception of One True Loves, which I’ve already read, and I recommend you buy immediately and read asap!!! It’s fantastic. I’m really excited for the new Emily Giffin book, and I’m currently reading the new Kristin Harmel book and enjoying it.

How exciting for your daughter! Dance is so much fun.
I can’t wait to see what you think of One True Loves! Until I read the new CoHo book, that was my favorite book so far this year. Enjoy!

Way to go, Sunni! And go, you! Seven books is great, and what you read are really good ones, too. I haven’t even looked at my end of month for a recap, yet because I know it sucks so badly this month. *sigh* I guess I’ll just take it with a spoonful of sugar and do it.

P.s. I tried to leave a comment on your post yesterday, but it never posted. ??? I’m not sure what was going on, but it was all of my excitement over you reading Amy Harmon. lol She’s my CoHo in Brandie terms. 😉

You’ve had a lot going on in May. Congrats on all the firsts. It’s not very often that I like every book I read in a month either (it didn’t happen this month, ha).
Thanks for sharing your list with us!

What a great month May has been for you, Brandie!! It sounds like it’s been a busy one, but for all the right reasons. I hope June proves to be just as great!

I’ve seen The Girls in the Garden about a bit in the blogosphere at the moment and I’m really intrigued by the premise. I hope you have a wonderful June, reading and otherwise.

  4. Kathryn says:

Oh nice when the reads are all worthwhile. Hm I have wondered about Kristin Harmel so will look forward to your review of that one, I am not sure if I have read Beth Kendrick must check. And of course top book a Colleen Hoover!
Sunnie to be a kindergartener – a whole new experience coming up. Great work with the running.

You had an awesome month, both reading and otherwise! I am excited for It Ends With Us! August can’t come soon enough haha. But I have a few other CoHo books I haven’t read yet to tide me over until then.

  6. Nadia says:

Wow! Sounds like May rocked. That’s great about the races – you kicked ass! Good luck to Sunnie on her recital and that’s so exciting that she’ll be starting kindergarten this fall 🙂 That’s awesome about all the reading – so many great books! And that is so cool about your summer hours – enjoy!!

Outstanding month, Brandie! I sure wish for a month like your May where I enjoyed practically all the books I’ve read. Sigh.

Good luck in June and I hope you’ll keep your streak!

I’m glad you had such a great month – congrats to you and your daughter for some great accomplishments. I just read your review of Once Upon A Wine. I was attracted to the cover photo of the Boston. I added it to my ToRead list and requested it from NetGalley. It’s sounds like the perfect light read for this time of year. Have a great summer Brandie.

I see some books I want to read on your list, like It Ends With Us, Once Upon a Wine, and The Woman in Cabin 10.

For June, I’ve read The Girls in the Garden (loved it!); I want to read One True Loves and the Emily Giffin book; and Mystic Summer looks fabulous, as I enjoyed the author’s The Lake Season.

I got We’re All Damaged as my Prime freebie, and I’m eager to read it. Enjoy June, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  10. Ashley says:

Seven books finished is awesome! A plus that you liked them all. I am DYING to get my hands on It Ends with Us. Good luck to your daughter with her dance recital this weekend! 🙂 And you with the 5K!

  11. Emma says:

It’s great when you get a run of good books isn’t it. I’ve not done too badly myself this month – with some real hits. Hears to a good June – enjoy your summer hours (very jealous!)
