{Kindle Kandy} No. 11

Kindle Kandy is a Friday weekly bookish feature hosted by The Book Dame. We scan our shelves and eReaders to rediscover books that we own but have not read, to this point little more than shelf or Kindle Kandy.

Angelfall by Susan Ee

It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

I’m sure this is a book/series I will regret putting off for so long. I’ve seen and heard nothing but great things about it.

Frigid by J. Lynn

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn’t anything new. They’d been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the ‘man’ in man-whore. He’s never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn’t want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she’s perfect and she’s everything. But the feelings he has for her, he’s always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they’re stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor’easter, there’s nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

It’s been awhile since I read anything by this author, and I’ve enjoyed her books. This looks like a good one for me to pick up over the next few months as the snow starts to fly.

Have you read either of these books? What did you think?

I really enjoyed Angelfall but I never read the sequels. I’m so bad at finishing a series! I have Frigid on my Kindle, too, and I agree this is a great time to pick it up. Although, maybe I should wait until it gets a bit cold and rainy here. We’re in the high 70s with sunshine this weekend! Where is that El Nino? Enjoy your books, Brandie, and enjoy your weekend! 🙂

I’m terrible at finishing series, too! Too much of a time commitment! We just had some nice 70 weather all week, but it’s freezing today. Fall/Winter has finally hit us. Thanks, you too, Rachel!
