Bout of Books 13 – Weekend Wrap Up

weekend wrap up

Instead of doing my normal weekend wrap up post, I’m just adding it all in here…

Despite waking up this morning with the mother of all sinus headaches, this weekend was a lot of fun. After a good nap today, I felt a lot better, and even managed to get a run in this evening. Between Friday’s date night on the lake, finishing a book, and all the fun time with peanut, this weekend went entirely too fast!

#FitReaders co-hosted by Felicia @ Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and Jen @ That’s What I’m Talking About. I recently joined FitReaders, because I thought it would be a great way to help me stay motivated. It’s always more fun with support of your blog friends!

#todayinsixwords: Okay, where the hell is Charlie?

I completely forgot this book would be coming out this weekend, or it would have been on my BoB reading goals. It’s a novella, and I should have finished it already, but I’m really tired and calling it. It’s tough trying to sneak in any reading with a 4 year old and everything else that needs to get done around the house in two short days. And now I need sleep to tackle the week. I hope everyone had fun with the readathon. I may not have gotten a lot of pages read, but I started and finished at least one book, and I am thrilled with that. I’m lucky to finish a book in a week these days, so I’ll take it.

#todayinsixwords: couldn’t decide what to read – ugh!

I struggled with settling on a good book to get into, especially when I knew I’d be starting Never Never: Part Two on Sunday. I’ve been recommended to read this Laura Florand series by several of my friends, and on a whim I started it. I’m really enjoying what I read, but didn’t get very far. Lately time is too precious to settle on a mediocre book. I have read one other book by Florand that I loved, so I have faith I will enjoy this one, too.

#todayinsixwords: best readathon day and met goal!

Today was definitely a win. I finished a book (loved it, too), meeting the only goal I had set for myself for BoB. And I spent the evening on the boat with the hubby, soaking up the sun. I started Nowhere But Here but honestly don’t know if I’m going to stick with it. I don’t think I’m in the right mood for it. Never Never: Part Two comes out Sunday, so I may be dropping this one and starting it.

Today’s challenge is hosted by Once Upon a Chapter. Take a picture of your favorite read so far for Bout of Books. Well, this is easy because I’ve only read/finished one book, and I loved it!

#todayinsixwords: I suck at all the readathoning

Today was a tad disappointing on the reading end. I just didn’t have the time to pick up my book. Because we finally had some nicer weather yesterday, I opted to take a walk on my lunch instead of read. And then in the evening, by the time I got through dinner, clean up, going for a run, bathtime and playtime with the peanut – I was wiped out. I tried to sit down at 9 and read and only managed 18 pages. Oh well, today is a new day! Peanut is having a sleepover at my parents tonight, so if anything I will at least finish this book and hopefully start a new one. Happy Friday!

Today’s challenge is hosted by Wishful Endings, and it’s a color cover challenge! You’re to pick a color/colors and find four books with almost the exact same color scheme. Here’s mine, which are all books from my Goodreads favorites shelf.

#todayinsixwords: so close, yet not close enough

I’ve got about an hour left in my book. Damn sleep always gets in the way. I stayed up until 11, and really didn’t want to stop reading because this book is GOOD. But I knew that I would pay for it today if I didn’t force myself to go to bed. And right now there’s not enough coffee in the world…

#todayinsixwords: not enough time in the day

I decided to skip the challenge today. Just wasn’t my cup o tea. I didn’t get as much read as I had hoped, but the great thing about this readathon is that I have 5 more days. I know it’s ambitious, but I would love to finish this book today. We shall see.

W…W…W… Wednesday (Mini Version)

What did you recently finish reading?

I get it, people. Maas is a great story teller. Will I start her other series now? Not until all the books are released. The great thing about this book is that it didn’t end on a cliffhanger, even though it’s the start of a new series. I really appreciate when authors do that.

What are you currently reading?

I’m really enjoying this book so much. Glad I decided to pick it up.

What will you read next?

I’m torn on what I’m in the mood to read next. I want a sexy summer read, I think. Both of these are calling out to me.

#todayinsixwords: This book is breaking my heart!

I managed to get more of my book read than I anticipated. It’s a quick read, and I’m really enjoying it so far. Not a bad way to start BoB! I decided to forgo the Twitter chat last night and read instead. Hopefully get to jump in on the next one. How was everyone else’s first day?

Today’s challenge is hosted by Writing my own Fairy Tale, and she asks the questions below.

1. How do you organize your shelves? – Mine are organized by author & genre. Then by size. I have all of my mass market paperbacks on one shelf, all my hardbacks on another. And one shelf devoted to books I haven’t read yet.

2. What is one of your favorite book that’s not in one of your favorite genres? The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I am not a big historical fiction fan, but this book blew me away.

3. What is the last 5 star book you read? Marrow by Tarryn Fisher

4. What book are you most excited to read during the read-a-thon? The Life Intended by Kristin Harmel. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a few weeks now, and hope it’s as good as the hype.

5. What book do you recommend the most? Anything by Colleen Hoover. Particularly Hopeless, Maybe Someday, and Ugly Love.

 The Books

The Life Intended

Nowhere But Here – Started but wasn’t into it.

The Goals

1. Read as much as I can every day – lunch breaks and after my daughter goes to bed.

2. Finish one book.

3. Check in with other readathoners on blogs, Twitter, & Instagram.

4. Post an update each day.

5. Have fun!

Happy Reading!

I’m glad you were able to find the time to finish your book! It’s not always easy to find enough free time to read… I hope you have a great week! 😀

Oh my – great exercising, you are knocking it out of the park. The Chocolate Thief is one I want to read. Nalini Singh recommends that series so I wanted to try it. Could be all about the chocolate!

  3. Teddyree says:

You are killing it with the running … well done! Boo to sinus, glad you’re feeling a bit better and had a fun weekend. Nice work finishing a book too, I struggle to read anything when my granddaughter stays over 🙂

  4. Nise' (Under the Boardwalk) says:

Excellent job on the activities for the week! I go to the pool three times a week and have yet to figure out a way for those “steps” to count! Need a waterproof fitbit. Going to check out the Never, Never books. Have a great week.
