#todayinsixwords: Just happy I met my goal.

I didn’t have as much time for reading this weekend as I had hoped – but I still met my goal of 2 books for the week, and read almost 800 pages.  THAT is pretty good for me when I am normally lucky to finish one book a week.  I’ve had a blast with the readathon and I’m sad it’s over already.  It was fun following other readathoners and commenting on blogs, and I loved the Twitter chats.  I’ll definitely be signing up for the next BoB!

#todayinsixwords: Too tired and there was wine.

Well, yesterday’s reading efforts were a bust.  I wasn’t home the first half of the day, and then the afternoon was busy with laundry and cleaning/organizing my daughters bedroom and playroom.  Then we had friends stop over for a visit, which was fun!  After they left and I got peanut to bed, I sat down with a glass of wine and the intent to read.  Once the wine kicked in, I just gave up and called it quits.  Today I am home most of the day and there isn’t a lot on my to-do list except entertaining the peanut.  I hope to finish We Were Liars as my finale to BoB.  We shall see!  It’s sad that the week is almost over – I’ve had a lot of fun with the readathon.

How’s everyone else doing?

#todayinsixwords: WTF am I reading?

I started We Were Liars yesterday and I’m not sure how I’m feeling about it.  It’s pretty strange and I don’t have a clue where it’s going.  That was my WTF for the day.  I’m going to keep reading because I still don’t know what this book is about and I’ve seen so many rave reviews that I’m curious.  On a whim I had purchased Hyperbole and a Half this week because I was looking for something funny.  I have never read Allie Brosh’s blog – but I have seen her sketches/cartoons on Pinterest.  Last night I was having a hard time focusing and decided to open this one up for the hell of it.  So far, the chapter about her dog had me cracking up the most.

I have family stuff today, so my reading won’t happen until later this evening.  I’m hoping to finish We Were Liars tonight and figure out what this book is about!  Happy Reading!

#todayinsixwords: Sorry to see this book end.

I finished Goodnight June by Sarah Jio last night and it was a wonderful read.  I was weepy and happy when it was over – and surprised by the turn of events in the end.  I thought it was going to be totally predictable and was proven wrong.  I love when books do that!  Going to skip today’s challenges – but hoping to get some reading time over lunch and dive into We Were Liars!

#todayinsixwords: I’m LOVING this book so hard.

Today was a pretty good reading day.  I managed to read most of my lunch and got a few hours in after my daughter went to bed, and in between the Twitter chat.  That was after spending an hour in the basement because we had tornado warnings.  The rain and storms this week are getting old.  If I can’t be home wrapped up in the blanket reading my book when it’s crappy out – then I’d prefer some sunshine, please!  And also – umbrellas are a pain in the ass.

#todayinsixwords: Wish I could’ve stayed awake longer.

I didn’t get to read as much as I hoped – my lunch break was cut short yesterday.  I couldn’t manage to stay awake and focus very long last night, either.  But I am loving this book SO much. And this morning I woke up to this notification that made my day!

Challenge

Today’s challenge is Book Pairings hosted by My Overstuffed Shelves. ‘This’ made me think of ‘that’: Just think about the book you are reading now, or one you’ve read before, and tell me something you think goes with it and why.

As I’m reading Goodnight June, I can’t help but think about the movie You’ve Got Mail, and make similar comparisons.  If you haven’t seen the movie (you should!) – it’s about two business rivals (Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks) who hate each other at the office (they both own bookstores), but fall in love over the internet.  Meg Ryan’s character owns a quaint children’s bookstore, that was in her family for years.  This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I could only dream of owning an old fashioned bookstore, even though I know they are a dying breed.  Just something about the atmosphere and being surrounded by so many books – that’s my idea of heaven!

I’m enjoying this book so much – I love the story line and the writing.  I just want to curl up on my couch all day and read it.  Being a responsible adult sucks sometimes, lol.

Very excited for my first Bout of Books Readathon!  I’m glad it’s a week long event because I may actually be able to meet my goal.  I don’t plan on doing many of the challenges – my focus is just to read.  I will participate some on Twitter and Instagram.  With a 3-year-old at home, my reading time is limited, so we’ll see how this goes!

No pretty book stacks because everything is on my Kindle(s).

Books

I haven’t decided yet which one I’m starting today – but I’m picking from these:

Goodnight June by Sarah Jio

When We Fall by Kendall Ryan

Happenstance by Jamie McGuire

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren

Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh

Goals

1. Read as much as I can every day – lunch breaks and after my daughter goes to bed.

2. Hopefully finish 2 books.

3. Check in with other readathoners on blogs, Twitter, & Instagram.

4. Update this master post each day.

I’m excited!  Happy Reading Bout of Bookers!

Congratulations! 800 pages in one week is quite impressive. I cannot wait for you to finish We Were Liars. You may have no clue about its plot now, but that will change and your WTF moment of confusion will turn into WTF OMG!! Enjoy!
